The last couple days were so busy, I've had no time to write. On Tuesday I did a tram tour of the city with the highlight of Bratislava Castle. On Wednesday, I joined a walking tour of the Old Town, very hot weather and the group was too large to hear the guide give her historical comments. The Icebreaker was at a large room of a restaurant where most of the attendees gathered to meet, greet and eat. It was a buffet - not too fond of buffets, but the wine was nice.

Arrived at Hotel Arcadia on Monday 29 July after 4 airports, a train and 2 taxis. Weather very warm, like south Florida minus the humidity. Since my room was not quite ready, I went for a walk around the area. Took my camera (even though I will not be able to download photos until I get home - dumb) bec. I should never go anywhere without it. I stopped at local Slovak Cafe and had a local beer near St. Michael's Gate. Back at the hotel I found my room to be fabulous! See photo. After getting organized and having a nap, I went shopping at a nearby market. Made a few mistakes but learned a lot. With bread, cheese, grapes, wine, I had a late dinner.

Breakfast buffet was fabulous this morning! Cell photo of potato pancake, grilled tomato & soft boiled egg could not be uploaded (?) and photos of dining room also will go unrecorded for now. I realize that the only way I can add photos to this blog is by shooting them with iPad. Off to do bus tour of Bratislava now.

Blogging from Dubrovnik

I know it's been quite a while - but today I will begin blogging from the location of the 2012 IBD meeting - Dubrovnik, Croatia. We arrived yesterday after a short flight from London (afer a much longer flight from Orlando). We made a short tour of the walled city and will be going back today to complete the tour. More later....

Yesss! Thank you all who supported me for the chairmanship. I am humbled and excited at the same time. Onward!

End in Sight

The end of the balloting period is this weekend - did you vote? There's still time. Mensa is stronger than ever despite the recent challenges - we'll get through it. Hope to see all of you in Pittsburgh in a month!

Does anyone still read the "funny papers"? I look forward to Sunday because of the comics...
