Tuesday

What is it about Tuesdays? They aren't the beginning, end or middle of the week. They are placeholders, I guess. How do you feel about Tuesdays?

Seems that someone in Mumbai has been twittering about the bombings and aftermath and has created a virtual community of people who are appalled at what happened yet are offering help of all kinds. Online communities are taking the place of family and neighbors. Why is it easier to offer help/aid to someone across the ocean than someone in the next town?

Creating virtual bonds is wonderful, but does that mean we're are becoming inured to face to face contact? Insensitive?

Post-Thanksgiving

And do we have a lot to be thankful for! I hope you all out there had a great holiday. Now it's back to Mensa musings. What are your questions? Answers to questions posed by Jared Levine to all candidates for office are being posted on the unofficial e-lists as well as the Mensa Matters area of the official online community. While Jared's questions cover a lot of territory, there may be other questions that you have. Ask away!

Blogging for Mensa

I want to know what your questions are for me. What do you want to know? I am hoping to be elected to be chair of American Mensa (sometimes I wonder what's in the water around here [south Florida]). My main goal is to keep the options open for every one of our 50,000+ members. By that, I mean however or whatever you want Mensa to be for you, I want that for you too. Mensa is not a cruise ship with activity directors slipping a daily calendar of events under you door every morning - although a quick glance at the Mensa website sidebar resembles that - Mensa is a network of possibilities. Once onboard - there's that ship reference again - you can explore at your leisure. Stay up all night dancing, twitter one-on-one or with a group, chat on elists, go to dinner with new friends, go on a picnic, hear a lecture, you get the picture. It's your organization - use it!
